OMG!!! It's been two Weeks!!!

Hiya peeps,

Well dang, I went and done it now, sheesh. I posted a message on the Ravelry patterns board about there not being any decent FREE patterns for young boys and young men. Mostly what I found in my exhaustive search were too cutesy or too OLD!!

So, I challenged myself and others to come up with some patterns for our young men that were trendy and something we would actually enjoy knitting, besides the monotonous drudgery of endless stockinette with stripes or a little color threw in here or there. Those are ok n all that, but I wanted to do something that was a little bit more fashion forward without them looking like a "Cosby sweater gone wild!"

Rilana of "rilana knits" has some awesome graphs for the teenage set. Those would be totally kewl in a youngmans simple sweater. I also had some ideas with incorporating superhero themes into the sweaters for the younger boys. You know themes like "spiderman" or "the wolverine" or "naruto" and other stuff like that.

Well my first project was more on the line of "can it be done" sort of thing, not to mention my son would get a little upset if it was too "out there". So to start with, I ended up doing a cabled raglan in the round from the bottom up. I will post the finished pattern as soon as I can get it written down for ya all. It would run towards the experienced beginner type. Plus, the promised video of my method for needle-less cables.

Ahh, the Joys of Tryin to Figure It All Out.

Awww, the joy of writing patterns, sheesh. No one told me it was just such a pain in the ol' tuckus. O well, the urge is just too overpowering to ignore though (ya'll understand that). So far I have three patterns that I actually took the time to write down. Well, two are written down and the third is just a bunch of scribbles at this point. One is a "Shawl Collared Shrug" and another is "Cables and Shells Drawstring Tote" (it's crocheted by the way). The third is a (I think I'll call it...)"Sunshine Lace Halter Top". Whaduya think?
Man people, I have a whole lotta stash I have to get rid of here. Any ideas would be good. Sorry guys, I am not totally enamored with afghans. I'll leave those to the experts. I love getting them I just am not totally thrilled about doing them. LOL!!!
But that's ok. Each of us is addicted to a different form of our drug of choice "yarn". If you wanna leave a link to your fav yarn site hangout, that would be great. I do ask that it be blogs n such n not vendor spots. Well enough for one day, gotta finish that halter top ya know n get it all written down. (Dang where did I hide that tapestry needle, sheesh, I swear, sometimes gettin old sux.)
